WCHRA Annual Legislative and HR Compliance Conference
Back to the Future. Shaping the future by looking back.
Over the last few years, it seems that the Colorado legislature and Colorado voters keep piling more and more on employers. In fact, there’s been so much coming out, that there’s scarcely been time to consider implementing all the new laws, regulations, cases, etc. So, at this year’s WCHRA’s Spring’s Conference, we are going to be looking at the vast array of changes over the last four years and discussing best practices in the implementation of various laws, such as FAMLI, HFWA, POWR, Equal Pay, PHEW and in the great words of Yul Brenner in the King and I, “etc, etc, etc.”
To that end, the attorneys at Bechtel & Santo will, as they have for the past 25 years, present current bills in the legislature, newly passed laws, and expected future bills. But they will also be looking back at some recently passed laws discussed at past conferences to provide insight at how courts and agencies are interpreting some of these new laws to examine best practices. For example, what’s the recommended manner to investigate complaints in light of POWR? How should organizations establish a complaint repository? Which positions really need to be posted under the Equal Pay Act?
In addition to the “best practices” training, there will be a session on the requests for accommodation and interactive process in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in Groff last year. There will also be a session on the status of FAMLI and how best to move forward with your organization, including important changes to policies that all organizations should implement. Finally, there will be a discussion on ethical considerations in the use of AI in the workplace. Bechtel & Santo will examine what the law says organizations can and cannot do with AI and best practices in how to manage employee’s use of AI in the workplace.
In short, it’s certain to be a jammed pack Spring Conference. We look forward to seeing you there.
